Russian tankers reported supplying fuel to North Korea

Russian tankers have been monitored shipping fuel to North Korea on at least three occasions in recent months, according to a report labeled exclusive on Reuters and attributed to two Western European security sources.

Strengthened UN sanctions on North Korea over its nuclear program prevent all but a small amount of oil trade with the hermit kingdom.

A Hong Kong-registered ship was seized by South Korea last week suspected of illegally transporting oil to the North. The sighting of the ship in a North Korean port by spy satellites prompted President Trump to accuse China of propping up the regime.

“Caught RED HANDED – very disappointed that China is allowing oil to go into North Korea,” the U.S. President said on his personal Twitter handle. “There will never be a friendly solution to the North Korea problem if this continues to happen!”
